The Miami Valley Episcopal Russian Network (MVERN) invites you to join Bishop and Mrs. Breidenthal on a “White Nights Pilgrimage to Russia,” June 13-24, 2011, during the season of the beautiful White Nights when twilight lasts until dawn.

During this 12 day trip you will explore the major cultural, sacred and historical sites of ST. PETERSBURG and visit Orthodox churches that are partnered with other American Episcopal churches.  A short drive will take you to NOVGOROD, founded in 859 and once the rich and influential capital of old Russia.

Travelers will spend three days in the village of SABLINO, where you will see first-hand

MVERN’s outreach ministry to St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, the partner parish of eleven Episcopal congregations.  You will spend one day assisting with the summer camp at the Sablino Youth Center.

Learn more about this interesting trip at an informational meeting on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3, at 2:30 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 33 W. Soles4Souls Going to Haiti

Kathleen called me yesterday with an outreach project she wanted to announce. Z-Coil of Piqua owners Ron and Tina Miller are part of an organization called Soles4Souls. For more information about Soles4Souls visit their website here www.soles4souls.org. They are taking shoe donations to ship to Haiti. This is an ongoing project. Kathleen mentioned that some people may not have the money or time to donate but might have the shoes.

So this is a call for gently worn, clean shoes for Soles4Souls. If you wish to
donate, bring them to the church. Tie the laces of pairs together, put flip flops in
plastic bags and tie them closed, and you may stuff clean socks in the shoes if you wish.
They are accepting any clean, gently worn shoes or boots. The first shipment will go out
Monday or Tuesday and all boxes and shipping is covered. Kathleen and Larry will get the
shoes to the Piqua store for the shipping. If you can bring them this Sunday, it can go
in the first shipment. If you can't bring them in by this Sunday, bring them in later,
because more shipments will go out in the future.

CECX Enters the 21st Century with Communication Director

As our parish attemps to grow and meet the needs of our parishioners, we are striving to enter the 21st century by utilizing the technology of today to minister within our walls and beyond. CECX's newest member, Tanya Ellenburg-Kimmet, has graciously agreed to volunteer to be the parish's Communications Director. Tanya will be overseeing the website and developing new ways to make our communication with one another and our community more fluid. Therefore, in this endeavor, Tanya will be working with all parish committees (Parish Life, Pastoral Care, Outreach, Evangelism, etc.). As an additional benefit, our goal of evangelizing by creating visibility for our parish in the community will also be realized. Tanya has already started full force by creating a Facebook and Twitter page for CECX. Check them out! (links to these are available on the Contact Us page) We will be posting announcements and information on these sites regularly. FYI: In case you weren't aware, the Diocese of Southern Ohio also has a Facebook and Twitter page. Check them out, too! Tanya can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
